In 2004, President and Owner, Jan Brimmeier, AIA, NCARB, founded Architectural Innovations, LLC (AI). Her goal was to create a design firm that puts clients and their needs first, follows a defined process to ensure success, and “Brings Art Back to Architecture.” With two baccalaureate degrees, several art scholarships, including the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts, and foreign studies — Jan was well-poised to rise in the Pittsburgh-area architecture scene. 

Based upon her previous experience managing several other firms, Jan knew what worked and what didn’t. She also understood what was needed to accomplish her goals...the right combination of talented, experienced, and enthusiastic service-minded team members collaborating in a supportive and innovative environment.   

Today, AI, a certified Small and Woman Business Enterprise (SBE/WBE), consistently delivers quality, confidence, and satisfaction across a broad spectrum of project types. Its expertise includes architecture, planning, interior design, and consulting services for governmental, municipal, healthcare, educational, sports, retail, commercial, aviation, religious, single-family residential and multi-unit housing clients domestically and internationally.

From pre-design to post construction, AI’s multi-discipline approach enables its clients to rely on “one source” for many services throughout the entire architectural design process.  Its projects consist of new construction, renovations, and additions, and are designed with features and systems that protect our environment.  AI is committed to sustainability and energy-efficient design solutions, including utilizing sustainable materials. Several of its projects are LEED Certified, with others meeting  ‘green building design standards. (Jan is also a member of CEOs for Sustainability, the nation's only executive network providing regional thought leadership on business sustainability.

Jan received recognition as a Top 25 Women in Business in 2010, as well as a Diamond Award for Pittsburgh’s Top 12 CEO's. AI has received numerous accolades within the Pittsburgh region over the past decade, including Best Places to Work for 12 consecutive years since 2009, and the Fastest Growing Business from 2009 through 2012 and 2017.  Architectural Innovations is the largest woman-owned architectural firm headquartered in Western Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
